i talked to my nephew that plays for Wise after the game tonight. He said to tell Mr. Walker thanks. None of the kids knew anything about Burton's streaks until some of them read it right here on the forum. He said it gave them a little extra motivation to score and to stop the streak.

What do they say about pride? I think it goes like this: "Pride Goeth Before a Fall".

Good luck to the Raiders and Indians in the play-offs. There's a lot of good hard-working kids on both squads.

It's funny the things that motivate kids. Several Kelly players were telling me that the sign that read "We heard you were good this year...haha" added some fire to their guts as well. I love cheerleader signs:D Too bad they yanked it down before we could pull it off after the game lol.

Gotta tell 1 more story,and I'll leave it alone: The other night at the Wise-Norton 8th-grade basketball games at Wise Primary School,there were a bunch of Burton folks sitting right behind me (gotta sit on same side at WPS),and the game was 42-6 Wise gals. One of the Burton fans says to the other one "That will be what Friday night will be like",and the other guy says "No-they won't get 6". I was telling my friend about it (his son is one of our LBs),and he smiled and said "They'd best strap 'em on mighty tight". He knew it was going to be a dogfight,and so did I. Did you really think you were going to hang 42 on the Kelly defense? C'mon let's be real here. 17 at Clintwood (a very potent offensive team save the Raider game) is the most we've surrendered this year. I told my co-workers the other night that this would be a low-scoring affair (don't think they believed me-gonna be a long night at Chez Onion for them come Monday evening lol). I didn't get on here this week claiming a Kelly win (figured the Indians and Raiders would do the talking on the field),but I couldn't help but laugh when I saw these predictions with Burton 40+ on the board. The game was tight (just as I expected),and I'm glad that we were fortunate enough to beat a fine Raider squad. Now to get some sleep,catch the youngin's basketball game in the morning,and on to UVA-Wise to cheer the Highland Cavaliers on as they go for the MSC-East title.

I know after last weeks game I told several od the raider fans I know that the wise game would be a tough one and most looked at me like I was crazy (Wish I could see them now LOL)

i could see it coming and figured that if JJK could stop the big plays, they had a heck of a good chance.....then someone informed me it was being played in Norton, and that made me flinch a bit, but it obviously didn't make Kelly flinch in the least.


what was with the passing deal with JIB, pretty ruff night for JIB and their recievers.

JJK put alot of pressure on Bates,and forced some quicker than he would have liked throws (many were low because of it).
